Kamperbinnenpoort Centrum Amersfoort
Overview
The Kamperbinnenpoort is a still existing city gate in the Dutch city of Amersfoort. The gate is located on the north side of the city center between Langestraat and Kamp and is part of the first city wall of Amersfoort. It is one of the last remnants of this first city wall, the structure of which can still largely be seen in the Muurhuizen, to which the gate is attached. On the side facing the Kamp, above the gate is a maze with six throwing holes from which defenders of the city could, for example, throw down hot tar. Today the gate is a monument. Other gates that still exist in Amersfoort are the water and land gate Koppelpoort and the water gate Monnikendam.
